STEP Asia
2009's STEP Asia conference, themed under the banner, “Trusts across frontiers”, brought together 30 top national and international speakers, including three from Guernsey.
These three included Jonathon Hooley from the States of Guernsey who spoke at “the new global framework for wealth structuring” seminar as well as participating on a panel session that looked at the contribution offshore financial centres make to higher tax jurisdictions.
Secondly, Paul Hodgson, from Butterfield Trust (Guernsey) spoke in the seminar, “Foundations and trusts. How to decide which to use?”
Our third speaker was Peter Niven, Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance, who chaired a debate titled, “Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy are right – tax havens really are finished”.
This year’s conference was held at the Fairmont Hotel in Singapore.
