Charles Parkinson
Treasury & Resources Minister, States of Guernsey
Charles Parkinson is the Minister of the Treasury & Resources Department. After graduating from Cambridge with a degree in Law, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat Marwick (now KPMG) in London, and was then called to the Bar in London. He was an executive in the Corporate Finance division of Morgan Grenfell (now Deutsche Bank) before returning to Guernsey and rejoining the accountancy profession.
In 1983 he founded the Guernsey office of PKF, and Praxis, the related fiduciary business, where he worked as a partner and director until retiring in 2004. His principal area of specialisation was international tax, and he is the author of several published works in this field.
In 2004 he was elected a Deputy in the States of Guernsey and became Deputy Minister of the Treasury & Resources Department. Re-elected in 2008, he took on the role of Minister.
He holds several non-executive directorships in investment and property companies, which keep him in regular contact with the island's finance industry.
