Guernsey-based Asian property fund moves to the main market

Fri, 23/07/2010 11:30

Carey Olsen has acted as Guernsey lawyers for Macau Property Opportunities Fund Limited, a Guernsey-domiciled Asian property investment fund, on its move from AIM to the London Stock Exchange’s main market.

Whilst AIM served the fund well, its main market listing is designed to achieve greater share liquidity, wider accessibility to investors and greater market profile.

The Guernsey domiciled fund invests in one of the world's fastest growing and most dynamic regions, Macau and the Western Pearl River Delta of Southern China.

The Carey Olsen team was led by Corporate Partner Ben Morgan, who was assisted by Senior Associate Geoff Ward-Marshall.

Ben Morgan said: “Guernsey has positioned itself as a leading jurisdiction for the establishment of listed investment companies on numerous stock exchanges but especially AIM and the main market in London.

“The fund’s migration is not unusual in the context of Guernsey listed investment companies. Given the large number of Guernsey funds listed on AIM it would not be a surprise to see other migrations of Guernsey investment companies to the main market, given the additional advantages that it brings.”

The firm’s funds team also recently advised Jon Moulton’s private equity vehicle Better Capital on the Guernsey aspects of its migration from AIM to the main market.
