Recruitment
The incessant demand from the industry for staff creates its own pressures yet Guernsey has coped with this by having a degree of flexibility in its housing and immigration policies. There are restrictions on the influx of people from outside the Island, with businesses having to demonstrate an effort to recruit locally before a licence will be issued to bring someone in.
Firms based on Guernsey have access to a range of recruitment agencies – from the boutique to the multi-jurisdictional – which means there is assistance on-hand no matter whether you are recruiting locally or from further afield. While the smaller recruitment firms tend to confine themselves to filling local vacancies with local people, the larger ones – particularly those with offices in other jurisdictions, play a significant role in bringing together clients who can’t find the staff they need locally with candidates who are potentially interested but have concerns that need to be addressed before they can come anywhere near committing themselves.
