Entrepreneurial wealth in motion

There is no doubt that these are interesting times for the private wealth industry, both globally and in the United Kingdom due to factors such as global political uncertainty, conflict and UK domestic politics.

As we navigate this landscape, Guernsey continues to offer a calm, stable and forward-thinking jurisdiction for wealth management - a valuable constant amid global change.

London and Guernsey remain key advisory centres working hand-in-hand to deliver cross-border wealth solutions. Guernsey is recognised as a stable and secure environment and a key domicile for global HNWs to manage their assets.

Which is why it is as vital as ever to highlight the island’s strengths to London’s private wealth community through various events organised by Guernsey Finance, including a roadshow and breakfast workshop with Guernsey delegates from UBP, Collas Crill and TMF.

It was encouraging to hear how various local and global changes are influencing how entrepreneurs and wealth creators are approaching their domiciles, wealth structures as well as their investments and succession planning. It’s pleasing to see that advisers are working hard with their clients from around the world to ensure the best solutions.  It was clear that Guernsey as a domicile is at the forefront of many of those solutions.

The roadshow also included a working breakfast with 35 guests. The scene was set superbly with a presentation by Michael Parsons, the CEO of WREN Investment Office, who described how many of the wealth creators needed to have a holistic view of their businesses, their wealth, their families and their desired outcomes.

No two families are the same, and their wealth is becoming more complex than ever. During the discussion, Jonathan Warr from UBP, Elena Gogh from Collas Crill and Helen Bougourd from TMF, explored how Guernsey’s stable, secure and flexible regulatory framework supports advisers in developing bespoke solutions for these diverse needs.

The finale of October activity was our annual flagship event for private wealth, the Guernsey Finance Private Wealth Forum, where 200 attendees joined us for two excellent panel sessions. The first explored building of wealth, behavioural finance, investing, defining outcomes, the newly established wealth, such as tech, sporting entrepreneurs as well as the more traditional wealth. The second delved into the preservation of wealth discussing different types of wealth priorities and required outcomes.

What a privilege to also hear from Deborah Meaden and Jamie Laing have a fascinating discussion about the challenges facing entrepreneurs, their own experiences and how those shaped their investments and businesses.

2026 is set to be another challenging and changeable year. Guernsey remains focused on anticipating change, continuing to be innovative, flexible and well-regulated and to maintain and enhance our relationships with advisers to deliver the right solutions for their clients.
